We are delighted to present an exhibiiton of prints by Morgan Howell at the historic Harrogate Theatre.
Johnny Marr once said that “The seven-inch single, as an entity, is an absolutely powerful, possible otherworldly object”. Howell is an artist who truly understands this.
His paintings are attracting a cult following amongst musicians and industry figures with collectors including Ozzy Osbourne, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Neil Diamond, Don Letts, Jerry Dammers, Ian Brown and Johnny Marr. His depiction of David Bowie’s The Jean Genie sits proudly on the wall at Sony Music, The Beatles’ Yesterday is at the iconic Capitol Building in L.A. and Blondie’s Heart of Glass has earned a place at BMG Chrysalis. His work is also a permanent feature in the Radio 2 Green Room alongside Elton John’s piano.
The prints will be unveiled in the theatre's stunning Circle Bar to mark the opening of the Harrogate Comedy Festival 2017. This year's programme includes performances from the likes of Stewart Lee, Simon Amstell, Jason Manford, Shappi Khorsandi and Jimmy Carr. For more details visit the theatre's website here.
Each print is an ‘artist’s proof’; they are digital pigment prints produced in limited editions of 7 worldwide. To view and purchase more of Morgan's work visit his profile page here.
"Vinyl is returning to my life in a big way, in the form of Morgan Howell and Supersize Art. 'Ziggy Stardust', is the one I bought and is the one that will soon be staring down at me from my study wall. Vinyl. It's back. In a big way."
