RedHouse Originals Gallery is delighted to announce details of a new exhibition in Harrogate, featuring artwork by the legendary Peter Blake. This exhibition by the artist widely regarded as The Godfather of Pop Art will feature a selection of recent prints in addition to several popular editions from Blake’s archive.
Peter Blake is a world-renowned painter, sculptor and draughtsman but this special exhibition will focus on his work as a printmaker; featuring fifty silkscreen prints and special editions, dating from 1991 to the present day. Blake has been a leading figure in British art since the mid 1950s and continues to inspire artists and collectors alike. Tracey Emin, a leading light in the YBA movement and now Professor of Drawing at the Royal Academy spoke highly of Blake’s early support:
"My generation, from Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Gavin Turk to Mat Collishaw, we all adore Peter and we all adore his work. Right from the beginning he made an immediate connection with all of us. He fully embraced our generation of artists and now a younger generation of artists.”
Since the 1960s his work has been exhibited regularly throughout the world, including the Nishimura Gallery, Tokyo (1988) and the Govinda Gallery, Washington D.C. (1992), putting RedHouse in esteemed company when the exhibition arrives in Harrogate, North Yorkshire in early March.
