We are delighted to present Shooting Bottles by Thomas James Butler; an exhibition of collages and paintings inspired by 1950s film icons and 1960s pop culture.
Though his memorable compositions have featured in various group exhibitions and collaborative projects, this will be the first time RedHouse have shown a dedicated collection of Butler’s work.
Shooting Bottles puts into conversation works spanning the artist’s creative developments over the last twelve months. It will give those who are familiar with his pure collage style an opportunity to see fresh new ways of working, including recent explorations with paint and larger-scale pieces. Working predominantly on board and musical scores, the new images retain the identifiable charm of Butler’s visual signature; crafting simplicity with strong lines, bold application of colour and an appreciation of Dadaist assemblage.
