To mark the closing ceremony for Liverpool’s Capital of Culture in 2008, “21st Century Pop collective” Ezra were invited by Tate Liverpool to produce visuals for their International Festival space.
The artist collective devised the ‘Ape, Culture, Ape’ series and installed three large scale paintings alongside an edition of smaller multiples on tiles. The original paintings are now held in a private collection though the group have made a limited number of the smaller works available to the public. The ‘Culture Ape’ tiles are individually silkscreen printed by hand in six colours with various hand finishing, making each piece unique.
