Twilight Of A Day | The Harrogate Edition
Solo Exhibition by Danny Larsen
Following the success of Danny Larsen’s London exhibition, Twilight Of A Day is now on view in Harrogate.
The collection will be on display for just three weeks, from Thursday 26th June until Thursday 17th July. Exhibition highlights include the preview of Larsen’s latest art film The Unseen Light, produced in collaboration with Matt Pain and Ola Røhr Thorsen.
Shot primarily with infrared photography, which reveals a hidden spectrum of light, The Unseen Light unveils a world that is beyond human perception. Forgoing narrative, voiceover, and structure, the film emphasises the importance of perception, reiterating the artist’s ongoing message: “Look and you shall see.” Describing the film, Larsen said: “Look and look closer. Look at everything. Sometimes, amazing things happen just by your feet. Sometimes it is far away, sometimes it is close. You have to look, and you’ll see these small and unexpected moments of beauty that happen to and around us all the time.”
The Harrogate Edition also unveils a small group of new works on canvas, the multiples series ‘Flowers From My Neighbour’s Garden’ where each artwork consists of black screenprint with unique hand-painted colouring. Glorious technicolour, with a palette ranging from Payne’s Grey to Pop Pink, no two are the same.
“This is a series where I got to make something in between a print and an original. It reminds me of the punk aesthetic that first got me into both screen printing and the dots. Emphasising the beauty of the imperfections within the process, and embracing them, then trying to add a unique feel to each image. Each canvas is painted in the acrylics that I use for my originals, taking the same silkscreen but choosing to see each view in a different way. It’s not what you see, but how you see the world that matters.”
